Ecology insights for the property sector

ICON Science recently partnered with Nature Collective to organise the first session of their ‘Nature Insights Series’ entitled ‘Ecology Insights for the Property Sector.’ The Nature Insights Series is led by Nature Collective, a design & consulting practice dedicated to nature-based solutions in the built environment.

The intent of the series is to connect nature, conservation and ecology experts with property professionals – to educate, translate ideas, explore new opportunities and re-think our approach to nature in cities (Nature Collective, 2024).

On 14th May 2024, the public seminar was facilitated by Stephanie Sirianni and featured the following speakers:

      • Professor Sarah Bekessy, who spoke about why nature in cities matters and introduced the concept of Biodiversity Sensitive Urban Design

      • Dr Jacinta Humphrey, who introduced the basics of urban ecology and the requirements of species in cities

      • Dr Casey Visintin, who outlined some examples of how we can design for nature in cities
